What is Health & Well-Being Coaching?
Are there health behavior changes that you’ve wanted to make but either haven’t known how or haven’t been successful in the past? Has a new health concern arisen that you want to pay particular attention to? Health coaching effectively motivates and supports health behavior change through a partnership between the client and coach. The coach helps the client develop and realize their optimal health vision through inquiry, personal discovery, and accountability.

Coaches work with the whole person. They listen to your concerns and ask powerful questions to help motivate you to make the changes you desire.

What are appropriate topics for health & well-being coaching?
The coaching relationship is unique. The coach and the client form a partnership to help you realize your optimal health vision based on your own goals and values. In health coaching, you are considered the expert on your life, the coach is there to support you in making sustainable lifestyle changes to help you move towards your vision. Any concern that gets in the way of taking care of your optimal health is the perfect subject with which to begin coaching. Therefore, any topic you want to bring up that you think will contribute to your optimal health is an appropriate topic for Health & Well-Being Coaching.

Whole person health takes into consideration all the factors that contribute to a sense of well-being. The Wheel of Health from Duke Health is used as a tool for self-assessment for areas of your life that you would like to focus on making change. Among these are:

My name is Tracey Davis and I am a certified Duke Health and Well-Being Coach. I came to coaching after almost three decades of working in the wellness industry as a yoga, movement and mindfulness educator. In additional to my health coaching and yoga certification, I have a Master’s Degree in Dance and Dance Education from Teacher’s College, Columbia University and a Bachelors Degree in Public Policy from Duke University as well as certification in Nutrition and Healthy Living from Cornell. In 2019 I wrote a book, Speaking Shapes: 52 Lesson Plans to Inspire Creative and Meaningful Yoga Classes, as a tool for yoga teachers and students. I continue to teach regular yoga classes and workshops and am a Holistic Health Educator at PennMed/Lancaster General Hospital.
I truly believe that with mindfulness, movement, and intention we can all experience our vision of optimal health.
